Let's Talk Benefits
There's another reason to drink chaga beside the fantastic taste; the chagaccino blend has a treasure trove of of health benefits just waiting for you.
Highest natural source of antioxidants
40x more antioxidants than blueberries. Antioxidants are anti-inflammatory and boost longevity, healing, supports cellular regeneration, and protects against cellular damage and genetic mutation.
Endurance & Energy
Polysaccharides provide long lasting energy without caffeine. One study shows a boost of up to 25% in energy and endurance in vivo compared to the control group.
Immuno Booster & Gut Health
It improves immune function because it’s a natural antimicrobial and immunomodulator. It’s also a strong antibacterial and antiviral, preventing and shortening colds and flu. Due to its immune-boosting properties, chaga has long been used to support gastrointestinal health. Ulcers may be soothed by the use of chaga.
Cognitive Function
It may increase the availability of Acetylcholine (ACh), a neurotransmitter in the brain that is involved in memory and learning.
Mineral Rich
It’s the most Alkaline food on the planet due to its vast mineral content including minerals like calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, and sulfur.
Anti-Aging & Beautifying
The rich amount of melanin in chaga beautifies the pigment in your skin, eyes, and overall radiance. Melanin is also well known for expanding the pineal gland.
Meet the Mushroom
Chaga mushroom (Inonotus obliquus) is high in antioxidants and plant compounds that may benefit health. It often resembles a dark clump of dirt but has bright orange tissue beneath its exterior. While the exact nutritional composition of chaga mushrooms is unclear, this fungus is high in antioxidants and several beneficial plant compounds such as: triterpenoids, melanins, polysaccharides, polyphenols, and flavans.
Chaga spores occur naturally in a large part of the Northern hemisphere, including European boreal forests. Chaga spores can only infect trees that were previously damaged, for example by the wind, or frostbite.
The fungus “spreads throughout heartwood, but does not penetrate the sapwood, except for the small portion around the sterile conk“. The infection “will continue living inside a host tree for 10~80+ years”. (Source Jankovsky et al. 2008).
The Chaga fungus has a natural tendency to have long longevity and peacefully coexists with its host, just like the perfect couple. It does not seem to kill or weaken its host tree, unlike other parasitic species that have a shorter life cycle and usually kill their host organism.
Know the Risks
Chaga mushrooms are naturally rich with many vital minerals and health benefits, but like any food is not without certain risks. Chaga lowers blood sugar and can inhibit platelet aggregation within the bloodstream. If you take insulin, blood-sugar-lowering medicines, anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs, or are anemic, consider the following before sipping some chaga:
-Continue to take all prescribed medications — chaga is not a substitute for traditional medication.
-Talk with your doctor about your medications. As with other drugs and supplements, chaga may alter the effectiveness of various medications.
-Document any side effects from chaga use. Though rare, chaga could trigger an allergic reaction in some people. Trouble breathing, changes in heart rate, and loss of consciousness are medical emergencies.
-Avoid other herbal supplements while taking chaga unless a doctor advises otherwise.
